Swamp land, Big Lake: Gathered lots of good very big/tender spruce tips which are everywhere. Elderberries and raspberries flowering. Red and black currants flowering too. Also bluebells, etc.
May 17
Swamp land, Big Lake: Fiddlehead ferns are ready. Maybe some past-due, but still good ones to pick.
September 13
North Shore, Big Lake: Picked many bog cranberries, many perfect ripeness, others almost ready. Also got some lowbush cranberries.
August 7
Swamp land, Big Lake: Picked ripe crowberries (perfect) and a few blueberries. Lowbush cranberries are about half ripe. Lowbush cran in many spots in the Valley don’t seem to have many berries this year compared to other years. Bog cranberries seem about half ripe.
July 21
Marsh land, Big Lake: Cloudberries are perfect for picking, good flavor. Blueberries ready too. Plants all have happy leaves but not many berries per plant. Dry conditions, with record breaking heat earlier in July for Southcentral.
May 20
Marsh land, Big Lake: Blueberry flowers are still turning into small green berries.
August 8
Swamp land, Big Lake: Picked lots of great (domesticated) raspberries and also elderberry. A whole bunch of white spruce in the Mat-Su are spruce-beetle-killed or infested.

Swamp land, Big Lake: Really good watermelon berries.

Swamp land, Big Lake: Picked really good (domesticated) raspberries. Picked lots of red currants.
